This standard defines higher requirements for sound insulation in building construction than the minimum requirements specified in DIN 4109-1. A noticeably higher sound insulation results from an increase of at least 3 dB with airborne sound insulation and a reduction of at least 5 dB with impact sound levels as well as a reduction of at least 3 dB with noises from building technology systems. Deviations are made in individual cases. To ensure comparability between DIN 4109-1 and this document, the components in Table 1 to Table 6 are taken from DIN 4109-1:2018-01, even in the event that the requirements compared to DIN 4109-1:2018-01 are not specified or increased. Compared to DIN 4109-1, the residents may have to meet increased requirements when there is a greater need for protection and / or when the background noise level is low (e. g. away from busy streets). This document represents a compilation of increased requirement values ??based on the basic noise level of LAF,95 = 25 dB, assumed in DIN 4109-1:2018-01. Compared to DIN 4109-1:2018-01, no further requirements are placed on external components for protection against external noise. With the values ??specified here, the sound insulation is perceptibly higher and noise from neighboring rooms is further reduced, even if the values ??of DIN 4109-1:2018-01 are considered sufficient for individual components (labeling with a footnote). Usual living conditions and a behavior of the residents characterized by reasonable, mutual consideration are assumed. Appendix A provides a description of the subjective perceptibility of the usual noises as regards sound insulation according to DIN 4109-1 compared to this document between residential units in apartment buildings. Sound insulation that goes beyond the requirements of this document is possible, but is not the subject of this document.
