This document contains requirements and recommendations for work on or in the vicinity of an electrical product that is supplied with voltage class B (VCB), i.e. alternating current (AC) in the range from 30 V to 1,000 V, or direct current in the range from 60 V to 1,500 V, and where there may be a risk of being exposed to hazards that electricity may entail, including activities to safeguard against such risks. 

This document covers all systems in the electrical product that may affect the part of the product that is supplied with VCB voltage and where there may be a risk of being exposed to hazards that electricity may entail.

This document also defines the electrical safety roles that are suitable to use in professional activities, under which responsibility and authority are allocated to a person through position, delegation, assignment or task.

This document is primarily intended for electrically propelled road vehicles, but may also be applied to other types of electrical products such as electrically propelled off-road vehicles and machinery, electrically propelled vessels and electrically propelled stationary applications, including prototypes and test rigs. However, the types of installations covered by SS-EN 50110-1 are not affected.

This document is intended to be used as a basis for the development of activity-specific procedures with associated instructions and checklists, and can be used as a basis for all work on electrical products, or parts thereof, that are supplied with VCB voltage and where there may be a risk of being exposed to hazards that electricity may entail.
