The standard applies to extendable tripods equipped with a fixed pin C according to DIN 14640 with a spigot height of at least 3500 mm. The tripod described in this standard is mainly used outdoors. The small tripod according to DIN 14683 is intended for indoor use. Dimensions, designation, material and design requirements as well as their maximum mass and the marking of the high tripod are specified. The amendment to the previous edition of the standard was made because the upper tube diameter of 20 mm is not necessary as a functional dimension and thus unnecessarily restricts the design.
