This part of DIN 33961 specifies requirements and test methods for facilities that offer electromyostimulation training (EMS training) and has to be applied in conjunction with DIN 33967 Part 1 "Fitness club - Requirements for equipment and operation - Part 1: General requirements". A certification with DIN 33961-1 only is not valid. This part of DIN 33961 applies to facilities of which the entrance and supervision are specifically regulated by the owner (person who is in charge for the legal responsibility). This part of DIN 33961 does not specify requirements for EMS Training equipment according to EN 61000 (EMV), DIN EN 60335 (Safety) and ISO IEC 60601-2-10. General requirements and test methods for fitness studios are specified in DIN 33967-1, requirements and test methods for primary and secondary preventive cardiovascular training are specified in DIN 33961-2, primary and secondary preventive group fitness is specified in DIN 33961-3 and primary and secondary strength training with stationary training equipment fitness is specified in DIN 33961-4.
