Scope
This standard specifies methods of rating the corrosion probability of metallic pipe lines, containers and components of which surfaces are exposed to soil and surface water. The corrosion probability of these parts is not defined by the characteristics of the material and corrosive media, but by the type of construction and its spatial extension as far as other variables. As the variables cannot be described suffiently, only probability statements of the expected corrosion are possible. These statement should inform in which kind and in which dimension corrosion occurs and which protective measures are useful or absolutely necessary. This standard assumes the specifications in DIN 50929-1, DIN EN 12501-1 und DIN EN 12501-2.
