Tobak och nikotinprodukter

Eftersom tobaksindustrin är en global industri med många aktörer är det viktigt med standarder som säkerställer gemensamt språkbruk och vedertagna analysmetoder för tobak och tobaksprodukter. På senare år har verksamheten utvidgats till att även omfatta e-cigaretter och e-vätskor. Arbetet vänder sig till lagstiftare, producenter, odlare m.fl. som genom deltagandet i SIS-kommittén ges möjlighet att påverka kommande standarder.

Tobakskommittén bevakar det internationella arbetet som omfattar standardisering av terminologi, mät- och analysmetoder för tobak och tobaksprodukter samt material som används vid tillverkning av tobaksprodukter. Även analys av tobaksrök och dess påverkan på omgivande miljö ingår.

När det gäller e-cigaretter bevakar kommitén utvecklingen av standarder som beskriver krav och testmetoder för e-vätskor, utsläpp, elektroniska cigarettanordningar samt terminologi. Standarderna stödjer EU-lagstiftningen där tydliga säkerhets- och kvalitetskrav ingår och vars mål är att konsumenterna ska känna sig trygga.

Kommitténs mål är att:

  • bevaka utformningen av standarderna för tobak, tobaksprodukter, e-cigaretter och e-vätskor
  • sprida information om att standarderna finns
  • vara ett forum för diskussioner kring tobaksrelaterade frågor
  • vid behov utveckla svenska standarder

Aktuellt

Ny utgåva av SIS/TS 72, Nikotininnehållande, tobaksfria orala produkter - Säkerhets- och kvalitetsrelaterade krav, är publicerad.

Första utgåvan av SIS/TS 72 publicerades  2020 när det inte fanns någon sektorsspecifik svensk lagstiftning som nikotininnehållande, tobaksfria orala produkter omfattades av. Sedan dess har dock svensk lagstiftning trätt i kraft och för att bemöta det har SIS/TS 72 reviderats. Den nya utgåvan publicerades i juni 2024, SIS/TS 72:2024. Gällande mandatet kring självslocknande cigaretter har projektet även aktivt bevakat arbetet inom CEN/TC 401 Project Committee – Reduced Ignition Propensity Cigarettes. Denna Project Committee har uppdraget att utveckla en europeisk standard som omfattar säkerhetskraven specificerade i mandat M/425 Relative to the fire safety requirement for cigarettes och ska komplettera EN ISO 12863 Standard test method for assessing the ignition propensity of cigarettes (ISO 12863:2010)
