Brandsäkerhet

Vid brand i en byggnad är det viktigt att såväl de byggmaterial som används som att hela byggnaden svarar mot ställda krav på säkerhet. Kommittén ansvarar för att utveckla standarder för att bedöma brandrisker, för att säkerställa byggnaders brandsäkerhet och för att värdera byggmaterials brandegenskaper.

Kommittén för Brandsäkerhet deltar aktivt för att påverka innehåll och riktlinjer för framtida standarder. Målet är att de byggprodukter som tillverkas och de beräkningsmetoder för dimensionering som används på brandområdet bidrar till avsedd brandsäkerhet i nya och befintliga byggnader och andra fysiska miljöer, i så väl Sverige som internationellt, samt att brandprodukterna har optimala brandtekniska egenskaper vad gäller säkerhet, ekonomi och miljö. 

Den svenska kommittén för brandsäkerhet deltar aktivt i arbetet med framtagandet av de europastandarder som ligger till grund för CE-märkning av byggprodukter, likväl som utvecklandet av nya provmetoder och analytisk dimensionering av byggnadens brandsäkerhet. Detta för att svenska kunskaper och intressen skall tillvaratas i morgondagens standarder. Boverket åberopar så kallad euroklass, som bestäms vid provning av produkter, som därefter klassificeras med hjälp av den europeiska klassificeringsstandarden. Detta är även en viktig del av harmoniseringen för en europeisk byggproduktmarknad.
