Participation
Participation in ISO Stockholm 2002 is open to delegates appointed by ISO members and to representatives
of invited international organizations.
Business facilities
Public telephones will be available at the City Conference Centre, Norra Latin.
A computer room will be available for delegates’ use at the Conference Centre. It will be equipped with
PCs with Internet and e-mail access, as well as printers.
Business hours
Banks are generally open between 09:00/10:00 and 15:00 on weekdays. Some banks in central Stockholm
are open from 09:00 to 17:00. Post Offices are generally open between 09:30 and 18:00 on weekdays and
between 10:00 and 13:00 on Saturdays. The Post Office at the Central Station is open from 07:00 to 22:00
on weekdays and from 10:00 to 19:00 during weekends.
Shops are generally open between 10:00 and 18:00 on weekdays and from 10:00 to 16:00 on Saturdays,
12:00 to 16:00 on Sundays.
Climate and clothing
The weather in Stockholm in September is usually sunny with temperatures at approximately 15°C;
showers may occur.
You should bring a coat or jacket to accommodate the variances in temperature that may occur.
Dress code
Business suits are recommended for all meetings and evening social events.
Electricity supply
Electrical current in Sweden is 220 V/50 Hz. Round, European-style two-pin plugs are used. Appliances
designed to operate on 110/120 Volts need a voltage converter and a plug adapter.
First Aid and medical assistance
Doctors can be contacted through your hotel or through the ISO registration/information desk. In case
of emergency (police, fire brigade and ambulance) dial 112.
Insurance / Disclaimer
The host, the Swedish Standards Institute, and the Conference Organizer accept no liability for any
injuries/losses incurred by participants and/or accompanying persons, nor loss of, or damage to, any luggage
and/or personal belongings. Delegates are strongly advised to obtain travel insurance (medical/accident,
personal) in their home countries prior to departure.
Local time
The local time in Stockholm in September is GMT + 2 (daylight saving time).
Mobile Cell phones
Sweden operates a standard GSM-based cell phone system.
Plane ticket confirmation
If necessary, the ISO registration/information desk will help you reconfirming your plane ticket.
Tipping
Tipping is not a general custom in Sweden but if the service provided by porters, taxis and restaurants is
excellent you may if you wish leave a little tip.
