This standard describes the contents of certificates for an Electronic Identification (EID) application using microprocessor cards for storing private keys. The certificate is based on IETF RFC 5280. This standard is thus an implementation profile for IETF RFC 5280 certificates. Some elements that are optional in this standard may be specified in another profile document.
